Southwest Adventure on an R18 – Day 2

Let’s start off right. Huevos rancheros and Mexican coffee at Anojito’s. That coffee was delicious. It was infused with cinnamon and a touch of chili.

Today, headed to Tucson. The weather was set to get worse with the next front rolling in from the Pacific, so I mostly stayed ahead of it, but got a little wet by the end of the day. Most of today was interstate riding, so not as fun as I would like. I did get to see a lot of the southern border area on the way.

I’ve never stopped to really appreciate the Imperial Sand Dunes. This is a beautiful area to visit. All of the families from San Diego are now out on the dunes. Camping, cooking, and enjoying all manner of off-road activity.

Since the weather was holding, I stopped for a rest in Tacna, AZ. I also took a few side routes for some off-interstate sight seeing.

I have always enjoyed the desserts of the southwest. You can smell the minerals clearly, and they are full of interesting life. Lots of the iconic saguaro cacti grow here, which any Looney Tunes fan would recognize.

Dinner in Tucson was at a cheap cantina. Any guess what sport they favor here?

It started raining on my way back to the hotel, and it looks like it will be rain all day tomorrow.
