About 9 months ago, I picked up a 1985 R80 RT to do some project work on it.

It was a mostly sound, never down, 163,000 mile bike. Nothing special, but it was cheap and a good candidate for my project. Until recently, I’ve been focused on a number of preparation items, dealing with starting a new job, etc., but was finally able to begin the project over the weekend.
This is going to be a long haul, and I am taking the whole bike apart.

The biggest problem so far was this over-torqued oil drain plug. It rounded out nicely whenI was trying to remove it.

I am also debating between finding a new front engine protector and letting this one stay. If I keep it, I will have to find a way to let it show off this nice battle scar.
